Regina Reviews: A Voice of Silver and Blood by Miranda Vale
Title: A Voice of Silver and Blood
Series: Crown of Echoed Dreams Book 1
Author: Miranda Vale
Blurb:
My voice awakens magic. Too bad it also awakens a fallen Fae King who claims I'm his salvation—and a vampire who'll kill his own kind to keep me alive.
The world's gray and hollow. The Vampire Queen's reign drains every dream, every spark of hope from humanity, leaving empty shells going through the motions. I'm just a broke musician in this hopeless wasteland—until I sing and dreams awaken.
Faelan, the exiled Fae King, appears like dark temptation wrapped in starlight. Cast from the realm of dreams, he's starving in a world where the Queen has stolen what his kind need to survive. My voice calls to forgotten dreams, to powers she thought she'd crushed forever. He needs me to reclaim his throne—but somewhere between desperate alliance and dangerous attraction, I'm falling for the fallen king who might be my salvation or my destruction.
He's not the only one who wants me.
Corvin is a vampire who should be my enemy but keeps saving my life. When his own kind come for me, he chooses my side for reasons that remain dangerously unclear.
Caught between a fallen King I'm dangerously drawn to and a vampire protector with deadly secrets, I'm learning my voice could shatter the Queen's reign of despair. But when loving Faelan might mean losing myself to his world forever, I have to decide what I'm willing to sacrifice for a chance to bring dreams back to humanity.
Perfect for fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout and Sarah J. Maas who crave fallen kings, morally gray vampires, and heroines with world-changing power.

Review:
Skye lives in a world that is on the brink of losing everything, creativity, color, positive emotion, love, everything. As a mortal and possibly a second generation fae living in the mortal world, she may be the only one who can save everything. While Skye is aware that there is something wrong in the world, she refuses to give in completely. All she has left in the world is her twenty year old younger brother Milo who she will do anything to keep from drowning in drugs and the remembered emotional pain of having their mother die right in front of him. Including using her extraordinary singing voice to help keep them afloat financially. But everything is not as it seems, and Skye is in for a fight she didn't even know she had a part in for her voice is a bridge to the dream, and the dream is the key to everything.
Faelan is a broken fae king who gave up everything for love...but it was not enough. He gave up his throne for another mortal bridge in the past, and in doing so, lost not just his throne but the woman he loved. Skye's voice revives him and he makes the choice to try again.
Corvin is a vampire and only he knows what his agenda is. Whether he is an enemy or a friend remains to be seen.
When Skye's brother borrows money from the wrong person, putting them even deeper in debt and in danger, Skye vows to do everything she can to save him from himself. Milo is about a decade younger than Skye and like her, he sees and feels too much. She knows he's just trying to cope by using street drugs and sleeping around, but it puts more pressure on Skye to make even more money with her musical talent to try and get their rent caught up and get Milo's debt paid. When she gets a text message from Milo indicating he is in trouble, she will do anything including tracking down the man holding his debt and taking on the dregs of a world her family may have once been a part of. Both Faelan and Corvin appear, but she rightly doesn't trust either of them, though she's willing to use their talents and what they know to help her find and help her brother. Will she get to Milo in time? Are Faelan and Corvin her enemies or her greatest allies? Only time will tell.
A Voice of Sliver and Blood was so good I read nearly the entire book in one night. I could not put it down until I found out what happened. This book has so many emotional nuances that there is no way to tell what the outcome is going to be. The worldbuilding in this story is fabulous and takes you right to the Kansas City of this reality with the very first words of the story, and then keeps you glued to the pages until the very end. If you enjoy romantic fantasy stories with gritty, romantic, and descriptive plots that keep you on the eduge of your seat, then you don't want to miss A Voice of Silver and Blood by Miranda Vale! I highly recommend it!
