Title: Off-Limits Daddy
Series: Daddies of Briar Creek
Author: Denver Shaw
Blurb:
The only thing more dangerous than fire is falling for your best friend’s little brother.
Ari’s a little lost, but when it comes to matters of the heart, he knows exactly what he wants: a Daddy. And his favorite pastime? Getting under the skin of Briar Creek's favorite firefighter, Reid Morgan.
Reid is his brother’s best friend. Divorced. Fourteen years older. And frustratingly off-limits.
Everyone calls Reid Daddy behind his back. Ari just wants the chance to whisper it in his ear.
An accidental fire, a lot of lingering looks, and one explosive Fourth of July later, Reid’s about to learn that the boy he swore not to touch? He’s already in his bed, his head and his heart.
Looking for your next trope buffet? We’ve got age gap, brother’s best friend, Daddy/boy dynamics, brat-in-lace energy, and a town so nosy even the firehouse has opinions. Add mutual pining, explosive heat (and actual fire), one very persuasive boy, and a stoic man who never stood a chance.
One-click Off-Limits Daddy for forbidden kisses, bratty teasing, and a Daddy who knows exactly how to take control.
Review:
Ari has just returned home from college and a bad ending to his relationship with his boyfriend. He's confused, and not really sure what he wants to do, he's even having trouble with how he feels about his art. One thing he's not confused about though is his feelings for his brother's best friend, Reid. Too bad Reid is off limits because Ari would love to be Reid's boy.
Reid is a fireman, and loved by everyone in the town of Briar Creek. He's loved Ari since Ari was a little kid tagging along behind him and Ari's older brother, Sage. Now that Ari is grown his feelings have become even more complex. While Reid knows he's a Daddy, he's never allowed any of his hookups to call him that. Since Ari is Sage's little brother, Reid knows he has to tread carefully and he's not really sure what to do. He doesn't want to lose his best friend, but he also wants to be more than another big brother or friend to Ari.
When Ari and Reid begin spending even more time together, enough that Ari realizes that maybe Reid is attracted to him too, he takes a chance and makes a move. As they traverse the change in their relationship, Ari realizes he wants more than being Reid's secret boyfriend/lover and confesses this to Reid. Will they be able to be with each other openly? Or will circumstances, Reid getting injured, small town gossip, and family dynamics make that impossible?
Off-Limits Daddy is wonderful, dynamic, and emotional read. I really enjoyed learning about Ari and Reid's loving but complex relationship. Adding in the small town gossips, family emotions and both Ari and Reid's learning to really understand themselves and each other made this book a page turner. If you love daddy/boy complex romance you'll love this book!
