Title: Daddy's Little Christmas
Author: Denver Shaw
This Christmas, Daddy gives him the one thing he’s never had—acceptance.
My ex had rules. Rules about the part of me that slips soft and small. No pacifiers. No bottles. No little space. No embarrassing habits that would hurt his political career. So I packed my duffle bag and drove toward a tiny Vermont town founded by two queer men who refused to keep hiding, and built a haven for people who had never truly fit anywhere else. I only meant to stay for two weeks. Heal a little. Breathe again.
Then I walked into Holly & Pine… and met him.
Graeme Whitlock.
He sees me. Not the version I was scolded into being—the real me. He offers structure instead of control, security instead of shame, and care without conditions.
And suddenly, Winterhaven doesn’t feel like a stop on the map.
It feels like home.
I didn’t plan to fall for the man who makes me feel small in the safest way. Keeping him? That might be the bravest Christmas wish I’ve ever dared to make.
Daddy’s Little Christmas is a small-town Daddy/little holiday romance filled with Christmas lights, gentle caretaking, emotional safety, and slow-burn heat that melts the snow.
Review:
Rudy Callahan lives in Chicago, Illinois and has had a tough life. Raised in foster care, he had no real stability until an older couple the Davises took him in when he was twelve. It was the first time he'd ever experienced any sort of parental love and acceptance. He works from home as a website designer and social media manager. He's also a little and has known he was a little for a while.
Graeme Whitlock lives in Winterhaven, Vermont a town that was founded by two men who loved each and were seeking a place they could safely live and love together. Graeme owns a shop that sells holiday greenery along with other fun things like handmade ornaments. He loves his town and he loves his shop, but sometimes he misses not having a partner to share it with. The one man he loved and wanted to stay, did not so he's cautious about forming romantic relationships.
When Rudy's ex, a man running for the Senate makes it a condition that Rudy completely hide and bury his little side if he wants to make a life with the man, for once Rudy stands up for himself and chooses himself by walking away. While hard, he knew he couldn't be someone he wasn't, which is what Nate, his ex was asking for. It takes nine months to heal and begin to make some new choices for himself, one is to visit a town founded by two men who loved each other at a time when doing so, could get them hurt bad or even killed. Rudy loves the town of Winterhaven, Vermont, but even more he loves the shop he finds The Holly & Pine run by handsome silver fox Graeme Whitlock. Greame seems to truly "see" him and is gentle, kind and accepting of his little side. It's not long before each pushes their fear of the future aside to start a relationship, but Rudy is only there for a couple of weeks, what will they do when it's time for him to return to Chicago?
This is without a doubt the best book with a character who is a little, that I have read ever! I absolutely loved it! Ms. Shaw does an fabulous job at showing what it means to be a little. Plus Graeme is so good with Rudy, so accepting and understanding and even willing to give Rudy what he needs emotionally before they get too involved, that this was one book I just could not put down. It's loving, steamy and just plain fun read. I can't recommend it highly enough. If you need a feel good holiday read, any time of the year, and you love LGBTQIA+ love stories, you won't want to miss Daddy's Little Christmas by Denver Shaw. It's the best!
