About a week ago, I discovered Squidoo, okay I admit I'd heard of it before, but I didn't realize what a great tool it can be to help get the word out until recently. The other day I spent several hours putting together exerpts, and reviews, videos etc. to put on a Squidoo lens about my Native American Romantic supsense Destiny's Choices. Without the wonderful e-book that new Squidoo members get, called of all things, "The Joy of Squidoo" (okay I have to laugh because we all know what title that reminds us of!) This book suggested that authors make lenses for their books, and I have to say I'm really glad I did so. So, for other authors who may read this post, I definitely recommend doing this for your books!

I thought it was appropriate to take a minute and write about 9/11 and where I was when that awful event happened. I will never forget the morning of September 11, 2001as long as I live. At the time I was unemployed and living in Portland, OR. My husband was working on a survey project in Washington and was gone during the week, and home on weekends. It was about 8:30 am when my phone rang and woke me up. It was my husband telling me to turn on the news because someone had flown a plane into the one of the twin towers in NY. I was still groggy and it didn't really register until I flipped the television on. Every single channel had horrific pictures of a plane crashing into that building and exploding. I don't think my mind could really comprehend what had happened for a moment, but then my husband's voice registered in my ear and we both expressed our disbelief. Not disbelief that it had happened, most all of us here in the states had known for years that sooner or later there was going to be a terrorist attack on US soil, but just disbelief in the form of denial. No one wants to believe their home isn't safe anymore, but that's what Americans learned that day, that we truly are no longer safe. And the reality is it could happen again, and probably will happen again at sometime in the future. While I personally pray that it doesn't, there are just too many fantatics in this world for it not to be a reality.
Anyway, just thought it was important to take a moment and remember all the people that died that day and in the days afterward. Here's to hoping and praying we don't see another 9/11 again.
I'm pleased to say I got more written on Destiny's Decisions this last weekend. This is the sequel to Destiny's Choices and at the rate I'm going it's going to be ready for submission soon.
Destiny's Decisions picks up a year after Tiana and James get back together, and they are planning their wedding. Between James' mother who is something of a fashion diva and determined to get Tiana into a fluffy white wedding dress if it kills her, and someone breaking into and trashing Tiana's art gallery, things start off with a bang in this book. I'm having fun with crafting this one as I'm able to build more on Tiana and James' relationship, and of course being able to bring some of James' family into the book where they were only hinted at in the first one is fun as well. Hopefully, everyone who read Destiny's Choices will enjoy reading Destiny's Decisions just as much!
